In this video, I’m covering Crystal Portrait Basics using one single bead size—2 mm crystals—and I’m doing it with a random placement method instead of the usual row-by-row filling. This approach is perfect if you want a more natural, textured look and you don’t want to feel “boxed in” by strict alignment. I also show how I set up my frame and workflow so the process stays smooth even when you’re working with thousands of tiny crystals. I’m using my Genie Crystals app to generate the portrait template, and then I build the portrait using regular white PVC glue (Fevicol) applied through a small squeezy bottle. For picking and placing, I rely on a wax pencil and a crystal tray to keep everything organized and fast. If you’re starting out, my biggest takeaway is: keep your glue control clean, work in small sections, and trust the template—random placement doesn’t mean guessing, it just means you’re not forcing a strict grid.
