UPDATE! Add Webcams To RODECaster Video - How To Avoid Framerate Issues

When the RODECaster Video launched there wasn't a lot of information about which webcams to use. I initially bought two cheap off-brand 1080p webcams and I was off to the races. Since then the RODECaster Video has had firmware updates and unfortunately the webcam usage is no longer as cut and dry as it was in the beginning. Then I went a long period of time without using any webcams and then plugged one in for an overhead product shot and --- nothing. I purchased a webcam from their compatible list in Logitech’s C920 HD Pro. Unfortunately, the framerate when connected to the RODECaster Video is unusable. After going back and forth with support I finally received this message: I've had the pleasure of working with Logitech Webcams and their USB connections, and I’d love to share some insights. While you might enjoy a higher frame rate with a direct connection to your computer, the RØDECaster Video can only accept uncompressed video. To boost the frame rate, these USB Webcams use compression, which allows for more data to travel through the USB cable. This means that when it comes to uncompressed video, it will only come through at the lowest frame rate, which is around 24FPS in this case, as compression is required to get anything above this frame rate. If there are other Web Cams that can produce a higher framerate uncompressed, and if you are able to find them, they should meet the needs for what you are looking for. This webcam outputs uncompressed video and looks almost as good as my old Canon M200 mirrorless camera. I do think that RODE should remove cameras from their compatibility list that have an unusable framerate. But what do you say?
