Audio equipment manufacturer Zoom delayed its upcoming WLM-1 wireless adapter (which includes a receiver and two transmitters). The WLM-1 was due out in the summer of 2025, but now has a vague 2026 release. After I initially reported on it in the spring, I reached out to Zoom and made a suggestion that they forwarded to their engineering team. The unit has always been capable of recording from both transmitters and a boom mic at the same time; however, as a filmmaker, I would love for the unit to give me the ability to dictate which signal is sent from the line out port. I’m not suggesting that any added functionality is the reason for the delay, but if you see the aforementioned idea, you’re welcome. No price point has been confirmed, but my initial speculation was something in line with current 32-bit wireless sets, which vary from $250-$350 USD. The TCA-1 timecode adapter generates and outputs timecode or jams to an external clock. Thanks to its precision temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) it generates ultra-accurate timecode, staying within 0.5 frames over 24 hours. The Zoom TCA-1 timecode adapter is due out in 2025. Zoom released a firmware update for the H6essential in May of 2025. While I'm just now getting around to it, I wanted to make sure my viewers were made aware of the new version 2.10 update. FIXES: Even when the fps was set by an UltraSync Blue, it was not applied to the H6essential, and proper synchronization was not possible. Other minor issues.
