The button actually acts as an attenuation button reducing the input volume 85dB. You'll need an extra cable to connect the MuteMate-85 to your audio interface. The MuteMate-85 can be used with a signal booster. The signal booster would need to be connected to the microphone before the MuteMate-85. Sadly, there is a small click when the button is engaged, however it's a very small sound. The click sound seemed louder in my headphones than when played back during editing. The MuteMate-85 allows you to switch from push to talk to push to mute. The versatility of the MuteMate-85 makes it a solid purchase for studio use. Imagine having a producer off camera that could use the MuteMate-85 as a "push to talk" device which would ensure they don't accidently get caught on a hot mic. Overall the MuteMate-85 is a good piece of gear that could breathe new life into audio interfaces you'd normally shy away from using during a live stream. Live streaming situations make it a must to have the ability to mute (in my opinion). Since I have two devices that have rock solid mute functionality, I don't have a major need for the MuteMate-85 but love the concept and hope they can make a truly silent unit in the future.
