Is This The Best Budget Condenser Mic?

The MXL CR78 is a mysterious budget microphone that (at the time of this recording) is unavailable in my region of the world. The mic vanished from Amazon the same day I bought it. Not only that but the microphone has very few reviews online despite having an extremely cheap price and being out since 2023. It's not like MXL is a fly-by-night company. They've been around for a long time and their microphones are widely used. Although there are some strange inconsistencies when it comes to the mics specs and how they're listed. The off-axis and rear rejection leave a lot to be desired. You'll also need to exercise good mic technique to mitigate plosives and it wouldn't hurt to run the mic through a de-esser or other processing. Overall, if you can find one, the MXL CR78 is a decent buy for the price. You won't be blown away by the sound but you also won't be kicked off a stream for using this mic either.
