Is This The BEST Audio Interface Concept for Content Creators?

If you daydream about audio gear then you’re in the right place. This video is my concept of what a versatile content creator’s dream audio interface might look like. I’m podcast award winner Hank Davis and I would have crawled over broken glass for a RODECaster, Mixcast, or PodTrak style device back in 2006 when I started. First and foremost I think the days of a limited use audio interface are numbered. I would love to see a company make a dockable handy recorder as the heart and soul of a modular audio interface. This particular handy recorder series could come with its own screen and two, four, or even more inputs. That way, the user decides how many inputs they want (within reason of course). Don’t want to be stuck in the studio? No problem. Simply detach your handy recorder and take the show on the RODE (pun intended). Don’t want a microphone in frame? Not an issue. Feel free to deploy your wireless lavalier microphones for your content creation needs. All detachable devices could be charged on the dock when not in use. If you enjoy fun opinion videos like this please subscribe to the channel. If this video is well received I’ll come back to this idea and outline the features I would add to this unit to truly make it the ultimate audio interface. This fictitious device would have motorized faders. With the channel shortcut, mute, and solo buttons of course. The knobs under the channel shortcut buttons would act as High, Mid, and Low EQ which could be switched between the three by pressing the knob down like a button. There would have to be a light indicating which setting you’re currently on. In a truly innovative move I’d make the pads on the unit expandable (to accommodate more buttons), and wait for it, detachable. The pads would release from the unit and they’d have a cable connecting them to the device that would be long enough to place them in front of you for easy access. They would be customizable and maybe they’d be more like Stream Deck keys than the typical rubber pads we see on most modern podcast mixers. I’d have headphone knobs and a rotary encoder on my dream device plus the headphone ports would be on the front and the back of the unit. The front headphone ports would be hidden by a cover that you would have to flip down in order to access them. What are your thoughts on this audio interface concept? Chime in and let your voice be heard.
