Last year I was so impressed with Samsung’s Q990F that I called it the best soundbar of 2025, even after testing a bunch of flagships from Sony, Nakamichi, LG, and JBL. In this video I put the new Samsung HW-Q990H under the microscope and answer the only question that matters: is it actually worth upgrading? I bought this unit with my own money, I don’t have a partnership with Samsung, and nobody reviews this before it goes live—so you’re getting the real take. Physically, the Q990H is basically the same hardware as the F model: same bar, same rears, and the same dual opposing 8-inch sub. Where things get interesting is features and tuning. I measured the sub performance (peaking around 87 dB at 47 Hz, rolling off around 34 Hz) and dug into the app experience—spoiler: pairing was a headache for me. But once it’s working, Samsung’s SpaceFit Sound Pro is still one of the best “flip a switch” calibrations out there, and with AI Adaptive Sound the system gets noticeably more engaging. The two big new adds are Auto Volume and Sound Elevation, and Sound Elevation in particular actually makes a real difference by pulling dialogue and effects up to the screen. Bottom line: if you already own the Q990F, you can skip the upgrade. If you’re on a Q990D or older Samsung bar and want better bass plus smarter processing, the Q990H is a fantastic move.
