In this video I’m thrift flipping a $1 house dress into a holiday outfit—aka a DIY bodysuit—because I’m really trying to make wearable clothes that I’ll actually reach for. I originally thought I was going to turn this into a super fitted dress, so I cut the sleeves off… and then immediately regretted it because I’ve never really sewn sleeves back on before. But you know me: we pivot, we use what we have, and we make it work. I walk you through how I attach the top to underwear to create the bodysuit bottom (yes, I literally pin it while it’s on my body so it sits straighter than my last one). I also share my go-to stitch settings—zigzag (length 3, width 2)—because stretch + less fraying = a win when you’re upcycling. There are definitely some chaotic moments (including me realizing the underwear situation is… not behaving), but we get to a cute final fit with a little puff sleeve moment and a matching hair piece made from scraps. And because slow living is also knowing when to stay home, we ended up canceling our holiday party due to snow and slippery roads. No FOMO over here—nothing is worth our safety, and honestly I love being cozy at home anyway.
