About This Video

Hey everyone—welcome back to my cozy monthly book club, where we don’t judge anybody for reading or listening along. This month I’m reviewing “Bones of Faerie” by Janni Lee Simner, and I’m also sharing my favorite way to access books when not everyone has the same options or budget. All you need is a library card to use the Libby app, and you can also use Hoopla (you’ll need an email too). Both are free, and you can read ebooks, listen to audiobooks, and even stream movies—no stressing about returns because they expire on their own. “Bones of Faerie” is a YA post-apocalyptic story with magic, and the big moral (to me) is that you shouldn’t fear what you don’t know or understand. The first chapter felt super promising and pulled me in, but as I kept going it got repetitive—lots of the same forest descriptions, the same vibes, and not enough development around the war or the bigger “why” behind the world. I also want to be really clear: there’s a trigger warning for animal abuse, and even though I saw it ahead of time, it still really upset me. Next month we’re switching it up: we’re reading “Persuasion” by Jane Austen. You’ve got a month to read it or listen to it—whatever works for your slow, cozy life.
