Welcome back to my new monthly series: “Should I Keep It or Should I Sell It?” This is basically talk therapy… but with random household stuff. I’m going through things people gave me to sell, plus my own things, because we’re under construction (not a new house, not a new house) and I’m realizing some of what I thought I wanted in our “final form” rooms… does not, in fact, go. So we’re making decisions in real time, and I’m holding myself accountable to list more in 2026. In this episode I start with the obvious sells: a dusty cable box wall mount (I swear I’m cleaning it before listing), an unopened Ring device because we felt a little “Big Brother” about indoor cameras, and our old toaster that can’t be safely used now that my husband has celiac disease. Then we get into the emotional stuff: vintage family lamps I’m torn about, plus a truly unhinged amount of my grandma’s aprons and scarves. I keep the ones that I’ll actually use (or alter), the ones that feel handmade, and the ones that hit me right in the nostalgia—while selling what isn’t me (even if someone else will love it).
