Today I went live and did what any sane person does: I downloaded like 50 Steam Next Fest demos and immediately started poking them with a stick on stream. The big one I was hyped for was the new Little Nemo game, because the old Capcom Little Nemo is one of the craziest (and hardest) old games ever. And bro… this isn’t just some remake. It’s a whole new vibe, and it straight-up surprised me by being a cute Metroidvania, with secrets, trading candy, pajama upgrades, and that whole “dream ranks up / dream ranks down” system that actually teaches you what hurts you without being annoying about it. We meet Flip (who I’m already side-eyeing), talk about the guardians, and I end up helping Manurva patch the barrier because the “waters of oblivion” are turning everything into nightmare monsters. Then the game hits me with the cozy-but-emotional “picture a place where you’re safe and warm” stuff, and I’m like… I’m here to play demos, not feel things today. After I gave Little Nemo the Doody Beard seal of approval, I started setting up the next demo—Royalty Freeforall—because it looked like a Smash-style fighting game and I wanted to keep the Next Fest chaos rolling.
