We went LIVE the second the embargo lifted and jumped straight into Resident Evil 9: Requiem on PC (shoutout CAPCOM for the review code). I’m talking fresh-out-the-oven launch vibes: I’m hyped, chat’s rolling in, and I’m immediately doing what I always do in Resident Evil—moving slow, looking for secrets, and roasting the game for the important stuff… like why I still can’t flush the damn toilets. The opening surprised me too: it drops you into a city street with a ton of NPCs and this weirdly GTA-ish feel, then funnels you into the condemned Remwood Hotel crime scene where everything gets spooky real fast. Along the way I’m nerding out about what I love in the Biohazard-style games: hidden items everywhere, that “stay sharp” escape-room energy (Resident Evil 7 demo forever), and the tension of exploring alone with just a flashlight and your paranoia. Then the story hits: Grace, her past, and some genuinely solid cinematography and grief acting that made me go, “Okay… they’re not holding back this time.”
