In this video I show you how I make a DIY dog scratchboard—fast, simple, and something most dogs actually enjoy. If your dog hates nail clippers (or even hates having their feet touched), this is a great, positive alternative to help keep front nails shorter. All you need is a board and 3M Safety Walk Tape. I use the 4-inch tape, peel off the backing, and stick it right onto the board. You can make this in about 5 minutes. Then I show you how I use it with my dog Nikki. I cue, “Scratch, file your nails,” and the moment she starts scratching I praise her: “Good girl.” We’ll repeat it, and I like to have her do this every couple of days. It’s an easy little routine that helps maintain those front nails between trims.
