About This Video

In this video, I’m basically making the case for something that sounds backwards: you should stop adding to your smart home… at least for a little while. With new devices dropping constantly and the temptation to chase “the perfect setup,” it’s easy to feel like your smart home is never finished. After about three years of building, switching ecosystems more times than I’d like to admit, and even moving everything into a new house, I’ve learned there are seasons where I just want my home to work—and I want to enjoy it. I walk through a few automations that genuinely make my daily life better without needing constant tweaking. My absolute favorite is my living room curtains opening around sunrise and closing around sunset—slow, quiet, and just effortless. I also talk about simple motion lighting in my foyer (on when I walk in, off after two minutes) and having my robot vacuum clean the kitchen at 1:00 a.m. The takeaway is simple: the joy isn’t in endlessly building automations—it’s in the convenience you and your family actually feel. I also share a channel update and my goal to post weekly in 2024.
