About This Video

It’s time for another LEGO City update… and I haven’t said those words in about three months, so sorry about that. It’s been a busy festive season into the new year, and honestly the main thing that’s slowed the city down is money—because LEGO is expensive, as we all know. I haven’t been doing nothing though: I’ve been chipping away at my backlog (building and selling), getting distracted by the Back to the Future stuff, and even running little side displays like the winter village and an arctic setup. But in this update I’m back at the city with a clear plan: start moving key areas forward with the parts I’ve been gathering. The big “next project” is my train station/track area. I’m expanding the station building, finishing track ballasting, and continuing the MILS road plates—but I’m also undoing an old decision: I used black sleepers and I really don’t like them anymore. I’m ripping those up and switching to more realistic colours like dark brown, brown and dark orange (dark brown just looks so much better, even if I tried to be different at the start). I’m also adding a UK-inspired third rail for extra realism. To keep the downtown plaza feeling alive while I wait on parts, I build a temporary scaffolding/construction scene next to the LEGO store using mostly Pick a Brick wall bits, then populate it with workers (welding, drilling, lunch-break donut… the usual). Small details like that keep the city progressing, even when the “big builds” have to wait.
