This set right here is significant, and in this video I unbox, build, and review LEGO Speed Champions 77255 Lightning McQueen (270 pieces), released 1st January 2026 and priced at £22.99 in the UK. I go through what you actually get in the box (one instruction booklet, a big sticker sheet, and five numbered paper bags), plus the LEGO Builder app option if you want to build alongside someone else. There’s even a cool real-vs-LEGO comparison in the instructions, and it’s a nice touch—although side-by-side, the LEGO version is definitely missing a bit of the charm of the real Lightning McQueen. The build itself took me about 40 minutes, and it’s genuinely different to most Speed Champions cars I’ve done. There’s no big specialized pre-moulded base piece, there’s rare undercar detailing, and the techniques are properly involved—SNOT, bars and clips, brackets, hinges, the lot—so you do need to pay attention in the instructions. I talk through what I love (my favourite angle is the rear), what I’m not keen on (the face slopes down too much), sticker vs print choices (including the big eye sticker), and why the wheels aren’t quite perfect.
