In this video Félix Krawatzek explains his Postdoctoral British Academy funded research on how the politics of the future is defined today. The ways politicians, governments, think-tanks, campaigning groups and the public think about political futures is continuously negotiated and deeply contested. Félix Krawatzek examines predictions, scenarios and models and their interplay with political debate and policy making in three policy areas: climate change, intergenerational justice and international security and compares France, Russia and the US. Using quantitative and qualitative methods of text analysis as well as network analysis, he identifies the actors (governmental and supranational agencies, NGOs, private corporations) involved in shaping the ways we think about politics for the future and maps the ways political futures can be imagined.
