In this video, I explained what KernelSU is and why it’s getting popular in the Android modding scene. KernelSU is a kernel-based root solution, meaning it runs inside the kernel (the core of the OS), not in user space like many other methods. Because of that, it can have more control over the system, and it changes how root access is managed compared to what most of us are used to. Then I broke down my top 3 advantages and disadvantages of using KernelSU on Android phones. On the advantages side, I talked about how you can use banking apps on a rooted phone more easily thanks to root cloaking, plus the whitelist-style access control using the su.prop file. I also covered performance and battery potential, since KernelSU can be paired with kernels optimized for your hardware, including CPU tweaks and power efficiency. For security, I like the whitelist approach because only apps you allow can request SU access. On the downside, I made it clear that installation can be complex because you (or a developer) may need a KernelSU-supported custom kernel, and mistakes can risk your device—so take a backup. It’s also not compatible with all devices, and module availability is still limited compared to Magisk because KernelSU is newer and module development is harder at the kernel level.
