Finally the wait is over—Official Project Elixir v4.0 based on Android 14 is here, and in this video I did my full in-depth review on my Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. I covered the overall user experience (and yes, it’s absolutely buttery smooth), the January 2024 security patch (Jan 5) and build date (Jan 6), plus the new default wallpaper concept that changes with updates. I also showed the preloaded wallpaper packs like Elixir walls and random walls, which is honestly a nice touch for people who like a fresh look without installing extra apps. After that, I tested the camera and performance properly. Out of the box you get LMC 8.4 with a lot of advanced options (you’ll need to enable some from settings), and I confirmed 4K recording works up to 30fps. Then I shared benchmarks: AnTuTu hit 389,498, Geekbench 6 scored 755 single-core and 1844 multi-core, and my 15-minute CPU throttling test showed no throttling at all (average 1442.46 IPS). I also checked SafetyNet and Play Protect—both passed, and I showed the exact fix for the “device not certified” issue using the Elixir Updater’s “Update Play integrated fingerprint.” I also pointed out what’s missing or buggy: no KernelSU support, Pixel Launcher means fewer home settings and no screenshot scan feature, and there’s a minor haptics issue (back gesture haptic doesn’t work by default, keyboard haptics need enabling). Overall, it’s stable and a great daily-driver ROM if your device is supported.
