About This Video

In this video I show you my full step-by-step process to install KernelSU and root an Android phone using the KernelSU method. I’m doing it on my Redmi Note 8 running PixelOS, but the overall steps are the same for other devices—just remember you must download the correct kernel/file for your exact model. I also keep this video focused only on installation and rooting, not the pros/cons comparison with Magisk (I’ll cover that in another video). The key thing I explain is: KernelSU rooting depends on your kernel. Not every kernel supports KernelSU, so you can’t just install it on any phone and expect it to work. On my device, the ROM came with Quicksilver kernel, and KernelSU app showed “unsupported,” so I switched to a KernelSU-supported kernel (Cryo kernel). I boot into OrangeFox recovery, take a proper backup (boot, dtbo, system), wipe Dalvik/ART cache and cache, then flash the kernel ZIP and reboot. After that, KernelSU starts working and I can manage root in a selective way—granting superuser permission only to apps I choose (I demo it with Root Checker).
