About This Video

In this video I did a proper in-depth review of the latest Matrixx ROM based on Android 14, because it’s been getting a lot of hype lately. I installed it on my Redmi Note 9 Pro Max (miatoll) and checked the basics first—Android security patch (Nov 1, 2023), SafetyNet status (it passed), and overall day-to-day stability. I also talked about one of the biggest perks people care about: unlimited Google Photos storage, which is honestly a solid bonus if you back up a lot of media. Then I went feature-by-feature: the latest Leica camera app with pro controls (manual focus, ISO, shutter, histogram, audio zoom, etc.), auto call recording without the annoying Google dialer announcement, lock screen clock styles, and the Matrix Home launcher options. I also covered the ROM’s unique Settings UI with fresh animations, Private DNS shortcuts, clone apps, and the full Matrix settings “customization center” (tons of tweaks for status bar, UI, quick settings, navigation, lock screen fonts, and more). Finally, I didn’t hide the issues: a few minor bugs (profile icon closing Settings, camera vlog/short film crashing, battery percentage toggle not working). And yes—I addressed the big question: after comparing, Matrixx ROM looks extremely similar to crDroid in animations and settings, so expect a very similar experience. Overall, after using it for several days, I’d say it’s reliable enough for daily use if the small bugs don’t bother you.
