In this quick take, I’m checking out the Xiaomi SmartBand 8 Pro as a cheaper alternative to the Xiaomi Watch S3 and seeing if that lower price comes with real sacrifices. I go over the core specs first—1.74-inch AMOLED (336x480, 336 PPI), up to 600 nits brightness, Gorilla Glass Victus, 5ATM water resistance, 150+ sport modes, and the usual sensor set (accelerometer, gyroscope, optical heart sensor, ambient light). Xiaomi rates it for about 14 days, and with raise-to-wake on, that claim actually holds up for me. Then I get into what it’s like to live with. The band is super light (22.5g), and while I usually prefer round watches, this one works well overall. My biggest complaint is simple: I miss having a button—something to quickly wake the screen or jump home. Step counting felt pretty accurate based on my own walking, and I like that it does notifications and music control without trying to be a full smartphone on my wrist. If you want long battery life and a comfortable, low-maintenance smart band, the SmartBand 8 Pro makes a lot of sense.
