In this video I spent time trying to use the iPhone 16 Pro and basically figured out why it’s probably getting sold pretty quickly. I start with the positives, because there are some: the design is clean and sophisticated, the build feels premium, and the display experience is genuinely smooth with high refresh rate and plenty of brightness for being outside. Performance is obviously strong too—gaming is easy on this thing—and the speakers are solid. Battery life has also been good for me on photography trips, especially standby. But if you’re looking for me to hype it up just because it’s Apple, this isn’t that video. The biggest problem for me is the camera, especially the ultrawide in low light—it can be straight up “black hole” bad with missing information, plus highlight clipping and a flat look that I don’t enjoy. The new camera button is also placed in a way that makes no sense ergonomically. Then there’s the price: I paid $1,230 and you still get 128GB, which is ridiculous when phones are pushing 4K/120 and beyond. No charger in the box, and AI features being marketed before they’re actually there… I’m not buying future promises.
