I recently called Ralph Wiggum “the peak evolution of vibe coding,” and I meant it as an insult. I’m not a fan of vibe coding—I want us in the driver’s seat with coding agents. But after Geoffrey Huntley (the creator) jumped into the conversation and shared the actual philosophy behind Ralph Wiggum, I realized I was overly focused on the shiny Anthropic plugin… which, honestly, is not the real Ralph Wiggum. In this video, I break down what actually matters: structured planning plus a long-running loop that avoids context bloat by resetting context windows and carrying state forward via files like a PRD and an activity log. The big takeaway is that Ralph Wiggum shines as a framework for proof of concepts—not production apps—because it lets you validate your architecture, tech stack, and idea quickly, as long as your scope is clearly defined. Then I demo it end-to-end: I generate a PRD via a slash command, lock down safety via Claude Code sandbox settings, and run a bash-driven Ralph loop with self-validation using the Vercel Agent Browser CLI. Overnight, it builds a non-trivial agent-driven habit tracker using Clerk auth, Neon Postgres, and an LLM-backed “coach,” and it exits only when every PRD feature is marked passing.
