For the longest time, I made this huge mistake of thinking Claude Code was just for coding. In this video, I show why that’s completely wrong—and how I use Claude Code as the workhorse of my “second brain,” with Obsidian as the canvas where everything gets organized and refined, and Skills as the mechanism that downloads the right knowledge into Claude’s brain exactly when it needs it. The goal isn’t to automate your business or generate AI slop. It’s to help with the big three: research, ideation, and organization—so you can spend your time on the creative work that actually matters. I break down why this combo works so well: a coding agent already has the core capabilities a second brain needs (files, search, terminal, web), and Obsidian’s local markdown vault is basically the perfect format for LLMs to understand and manipulate. Then we layer in Skills for progressive disclosure—so Claude Code isn’t overloaded with context up front, but can dynamically load the instructions (and even deeper reference files/scripts) only when a capability is needed. I also demo how to get started fast with my open-source skills repo, including a brand/voice generator, an on-brand PowerPoint generator that’s way more flexible than typical AI slide tools, and a skill that turns MCP servers (like Zapier) into context-efficient capabilities.
