Of course we are often drawn to the 'crowd-pleaser' foods that may be more cheat day specials than your everyday healthy meals. However, Chinese cooking has always served up wonderfully healthy AND delicious dishes. We just have to look a little bit deeper. The traditional way of eating Chinese cuisine is all about balance. The Chinese don't usually have a plateful of food to themselves, they cook a variety of dishes to share. It's usually a blend of fish, meat, poultry but always plenty of healthy vegetables. Everyone takes a little of everything but not too much of any one thing. It's a very healthy way to eat. And lots of the dishes are purely vegetarian which gives us plenty to work with if we are vegetarian or vegan. The techniques used to cook are usually super healthy, economical, simple and above all - delicious! And this tofu in black bean sauce recipe is no exception. Using ingredients you can find in your local chinese/asian supermarket or possibly even in your western supermarket. This dish is so simple yet mouthwateringly flavoursome. Plus it can be cooked from start to finish in approx 20 mins. What more could you ask for?
