This is another one of those dishes that people are afraid to try to make because it is sooooooooooooo delicious it must be complicated and the ingredients must be exotic and hard to come by. Well let me tell you that if you follow my video it's as easy as your average Sunday roast chicken!!! The only ingredients that you won't find in your normal supermarket is the yellow bean sauce, which you can find in your local Chinese supermarket and the Xiaoxing rice wine which can be substituted for dry sherry or a dry white wine. The char siu is especially good fresh out of the oven with just plain boiled rice but you can also use it in noodle dishes, fried rice dishes, dumplings, stir fries etc. Try it! It's easy and the flavours will blow your mind :) You will need 500g pork loin/shoulder/belly 1 thumb of ginger 2 cloves of garlic 1 tbsp sesame oil 4 tbsp honey 1 tbsp dark soy sauce 2 tbsp light soy sauce 2 tsp of five spice powder 2 tbsp hoisin sauce 1 tbsp yellow bean sauce 2 tbsp xiaoxing rice wine/dry sherry/dry white wine
