In this video, I do a hands-on, “what does it feel like as a member?” comparison of Mighty Networks vs Circle—specifically for businesses that want to run online courses, memberships, and community in one place. I’m using Mighty Networks’ Business plan and Circle’s Professional plan because they’re similar in pricing and intent, and I walk you through the real navigation experience on both desktop and the phone apps. I start by breaking down the building blocks: in both platforms, everything happens inside a Space, and you can organize Spaces in the left navigation (Circle uses Space Groups; Mighty uses Collections). The big difference is what a Space can contain. In Circle, a Space can only be one thing (feed, course, events, chat, etc.). In Mighty Networks, a Space can be one thing—or it can include multiple features in the same Space, like an Activity Feed plus a table of contents, events, chat, and more. After recreating my own Mighty Network inside Circle, the tradeoffs became obvious: Circle’s single-function Spaces make the navigation bar explode and force members to bounce back and forth constantly—especially on mobile. For me, that’s a showstopper, and it’s why I recommend Mighty Networks most of the time. Circle can still work if your setup is truly small in scope (one course, one community), and I encourage you to test both with free trials for your specific situation.
