Indo-Pacific Roundtable 2026 Panel 1: The Policies and Politics of De-Risking: How Indo-Pacific Nations Deal with the De-Risking Efforts of China and the US Despite the trade truce declared in October 2025, American and Chinese mutual de-risking efforts continue. This panel considers how nations in the Indo-Pacific grapple with the economic and political fallout of this Sino-American rivalry. First, the panel discusses the current state of play in American and Chinese de-risking policies (Fuller). In turn, the panel considers the domestic politics and policies to deal with the impact and future threats of de-risking in several Indo-Pacific nations: India (Kotasthane), Japan (Delmotte), and Taiwan (Chu). The discussion aims to highlight the commonalities and differences in dealing with de-risking across the Indo-Pacific.
