About This Video

Did you get bored with the default Unity layout? In this video I show you how I switch Unity Editor layouts fast, so my workspace matches whatever I’m doing right now—coding, level design, animation, or real-time testing. I walk you straight to the Layout drop-down in the upper-right corner and quickly demo the most useful presets. For example, 2x3 is awesome when I want Scene and Game view side by side for rapid iteration, and Four Split is perfect when I need multiple camera angles at the same time to fine-tune a more complex environment. I also cover Tall and Wide, because they’re huge time-savers depending on your workflow. Tall is my best friend when I’m coding and need vertical space for scripts and the Console, and it’s also great for animation since you get a long, clear timeline at the bottom. Wide is what I use when I’m mostly doing level design and want a broad, immersive canvas in the Scene view. Then I show the real speed trick: moving windows around, saving your own custom layout with a name (like “my coding setup”), and having it auto-load every time you open the project. And if you ever stop using a layout, I also show how to delete it cleanly.
