About This Video

In this video I show a simple and effective way to add slow motion and fast motion to your Unity game using one small TimeController script. The core idea is Unity’s Time.timeScale: at 1 your game runs normally, drop it to something like 0.3 for that classic slow-mo feel, or push it above 1 to speed everything up. I demo it with three clear options on screen—slow, normal, and fast—so you can instantly see the difference when you click each button. The important takeaway is that time scaling affects basically all time-dependent systems: animations, physics, UI animations, and more. Because physics runs on fixed time steps, I also adjust Time.fixedDeltaTime alongside timeScale to keep physics stable and consistent—otherwise slow/fast motion can get unpredictable. For visibility, I use a super simple cube movement script and add a Trail Renderer so the effect pops, especially during slow and fast motion. It’s a clean, beginner-friendly setup you can drop into action moments, epic jumps, explosions, or even fast-forwarding boring waiting/travel sections.
