In this video I show you how I build a DIY Traveler’s Notebook insert that’s made specifically for watercolour: a simple, satisfying accordion (concertina) format that gives you one long continuous surface for illustrated travel journaling. I start with the “why” behind making your own stationery—because you can tailor the paper, the size, and the feel to the way you actually journal—and then I take you with me on a quick London Graphic Centre shopping trip to pick the right watercolour paper. From there it’s a step-by-step build: I trace and cut the structure, fold the accordion cleanly, and then create a cover so the insert feels sturdy inside a Traveler’s Notebook. I also show you how to adapt the measurements for a passport size TN, which is perfect if you like a more compact setup for everyday carry. To finish, I add the final touches—little details like tape and decorative papers that make the whole thing feel personal and a bit more “romanticised,” while still being practical for painting on the go.
