About This Video

Hey what’s good, it’s CJ. In this video I break down mastering in a super simple way—what it is, why it matters, and how it’s basically the last step of post-production that gets your track loud enough to translate on everything: laptop speakers, phone speakers, AirPods, car speakers… you name it. I start by showing the difference between an unmastered mix and a mastered track inside Logic Pro, and I explain what you’re seeing (headroom, transients, and why mix engineers usually leave around -6 dB before mastering). Then I play my song “Alone” so you can actually hear the difference in loudness, body, and overall impact. After that, I upload the unmastered version to LANDR and let the AI master it. I show you how to A/B the original vs mastered, why “volume match” matters for accurate comparisons, and how the different styles (Warm, Balanced, Open) change the vibe. For my track, I ended up liking Warm the most and chose Medium loudness, then exported WAV for streaming. Back in Logic, I compare my master vs LANDR’s master and measure loudness with a LUFS meter. My master landed around -12.4 LUFS, while LANDR hit about -9.5 LUFS, still clean. I also walk through LANDR’s revision tools (EQ, sibilance control, distortion filter) and show how revisions changed both the sound and the final LUFS (around -10.6).
