In this live stream I’m back on the reviews—listening to your beats, songs, and even music videos that you submit to beats4cj@gmail.com. I’m running everything through my usual 1–5 scoring system (5 being the best), and I’m giving real feedback on what’s working: drum bounce, 808/kick pockets, sound selection, arrangement, and most importantly whether the record just needs the right artist to take it over. We went through a bunch of different vibes tonight—from hard beats that just need a vocalist, to full songs with visuals, to records with strong concepts and storytelling. A big takeaway from this one is that music is subjective, but the mix still matters. If your vocal is too quiet, people can’t catch what you’re saying—even if the vibe is there. On the flip side, sometimes it’s not the vocal at all—it’s the low end: if the bass is rumbling too hard it can swallow the track, especially in headphones and cars. We also talked about making connections in the community (artists linking with producers), keeping the fun in making beats, and even mental health—because yeah, depression is real, and checking on your people can literally save a life.
