Accepted Answer

Not permanently. I still use Logic Pro for engineering sessions and for making my loops because it’s just easier for me on that side. But for drums and fast workflow, FL has it unlocked, so I’ve been using FL a lot more lately.

How do you stream to YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook at the same time?

I tested Restream.io, and it lets me push one OBS stream out to multiple platforms using their RTMP URL and stream key. The Restream chat is supposed to capture messages from Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube in one place. OBS is really the key piece that makes the whole setup work.

How do you route DAW audio and mic audio into OBS on Mac?

On Mac, routing can get annoying, so I use iShowU Audio Capture plus LadioCast, then feed that into OBS. My DAW outputs to iShowU Audio Capture, LadioCast lets me monitor and route it where I need, and OBS grabs it with Audio Input Capture. I also run my headphones through my Yeti so I can hear everything from one source.

BWB kits are some of my favorites—those drums are always knocking. For more boom bap vibes, Jake One put me onto the Black Milk kits years ago and they’re still fire. I usually pick and choose from multiple kits, but those are solid starting points.

I don’t just use one 808 forever—I used to use Spins religiously like everybody, but you’ve gotta try new stuff. My go-to habit is keeping an “808 + kick combo” folder so I’m not forcing mismatched low end. In this stream I mentioned using a BWB kick (Kick 13) paired with a darker short 808 from a Decap-style kit.

How do you keep an 808 mono in FL Studio?

In FL, you can force it in the mixer with the stereo separation knob—push it toward mono if the sample is wide. If the 808 is already mono, it won’t change much, but it’s still a quick check. Keeping the low end centered just helps everything translate cleaner.

What BPM did you end up using for the live beat and why?

Accepted Answer

The loop came in at 143 BPM, but we tested a bunch of tempos live. I tried slowing it down for more space, but it felt too slow, and 143 felt too fast for the vibe we were building. Around 130 BPM was the sweet spot—bouncy but still leaves room for percussion and movement.
