In this live “Blank Canvas” cookup, I’m streaming on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook and building beats in real time using loops you guys email me. I start by previewing a bunch of submissions (shoutout Oliver Spencer, Diametric, and RX Viper) and I’m listening for what I always talk about: progression. When a loop has movement and different sections, the arrangement basically writes itself and it makes the whole beat-building process way faster. Once I pick a loop, I line it up, stretch it properly, chop it into sections, and start dialing in the vibe with quick processing (EQ, stereo spread, a little reverb, and some extra sauce like Cymatics Origin). Then I build drums from scratch—hi-hat patterns and rolls, darker hat pitch, drill-style snares, and 808 decisions based on the flow. I also talk workflow: I’ve been in Logic forever, but I’m using FL more on these streams because adding drums is super efficient when you’re moving fast with loop submissions. We even go into vocals—pulling a female acapella hook from Splice, stretching it to the beat, chopping it to fit pockets, and adding effects like EchoBoy automation and Auto-Tune vibes (without overdoing it). Plus: don’t buy followers—build it organically, invest in your craft, and use auto-save because crashes happen.
