In this video I’m back in Logic Pro making a full beat using LANDR’s brand new plugin, Chromatic. It’s a playable loop-based plugin that drops right into any DAW, and the whole point is inspiration—fast. I walk you through how I browse the library by Moods (I went straight to Cinematic Textures because you already know I like cinematic vibes) and Sets, where you can search by instrument/genre. The loop quality is super fire, and I also like that Chromatic puts the producer/artist in the spotlight and lets you jump to their profile to find more of their stuff. Once I find a loop that hits, I record it immediately—if you feel inspired, you gotta go with it and not beat around the bush. I show how the bottom keys trigger loops while the top keys add effects like tape stop, reverse, stutters, double time/half time, octave moves, plus a randomizer. Then I lock the key to B minor, bounce in place to “recreate the sample,” and start building: add a second Chromatic layer (voices), program a sub bass line, chop and reverse sections with fades for that sidechain-type movement, and layer guitar. From there it’s drums (808, clap, hats, perc, kick), a hook variation, a pitched-up section (+12), and Flex Time (Polyphonic) to keep pitched audio from sounding robotic. Final takeaway: keep it simple, leave room for the artist, but still get the most out of the session.
