New LinkedIn Page Feature - Restrict Members - BUT: Not Really... #linkedinpage

LinkedIn launched a new feature -- which supposedly enables page admins to restrict LinkedIn members from their page. But it may not work they way you THINK it should. I've been complaining about this for a while. We can BLOCK a person from connecting with us on our personal profile / activity, but we can't BLOCK them from our company pages. For those of us who are self-employed, it can be challenging. Especially if we're dealing with: 🚫 Someone who is creepy 🚫 An overly aggressive / angry salesperson 🚫 Someone who is inappropriate (see also: LinkedIn is NOT eHarmony https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/women-linkedin-responding-unprofessional-message-meller-zawacki-/) My delight for this new page member restriction was quickly diminished when I realized it's not kicking the person off of the entirely. Nor is it blocking them from seeing your page posts. RESTRICTION-ish It's a restriction-ish, because all that the restriction appears to do is to prohibit someone from spamming direct messages to your page. LinkedIn says this: "When an admin restricts a member from their Page, the member won’t be able to message the Page. Existing messages between the Page and the member will still be visible. The member can still find, view, and follow the Page, and Page posts may appear in their feed. After an admin restricts a member, the admin can remove the restriction at any time." Follow him at https://www.linkedin.com/in/billmccormick/ THE RESULT? ✅ After I restricted him, he could NOT send a DM to my page ✅ BUT: he could still comment on my page posts. 🤦‍♀️ I hope LinkedIn is reading this. That's not really a restriction. This is like grounding your kid, but letting him go outside and play with their friends. They should call this feature: Page DM Restriction. Because that's really all this is -- and of little to no value to us page admins IMHO.
