I woke up to my phone blowing up because, yes, the “impossible” thing got confirmed: Firefly is being pitched as an animated series, with Nathan Fillion doing the rounds, knocking on old castmates’ doors, and whipping the fanbase into a frenzy. But here’s the bit people keep missing: this isn’t a greenlit show. It’s “in development,” which mostly means Nathan’s trying to sell it, and the whole social media tease-fest is basically using the fans as a marketing lever to convince execs to hand over money. It’s a bit sleazy, even before we get to the real problems. The bigger issue is the baggage. Joss Whedon isn’t involved (because he’s toxic as hell), but Adam Baldwin is apparently still attached, and I’m not interested in putting new money into his pockets.
