About This Video

Today was meant to be a dead-simple 45-minute “click and collect” mission for Pokémon Pokopia (I still keep wanting to call it the wrong name), and instead it turned into a full-blown stress test of my patience, my budget, and the intelligence of retail systems. Dead car battery, an unexpected couple hundred bucks, then JB Hi-Fi doing the classic “we oversold pre-orders” routine and telling me a refund takes “probably about 5 days” (mate… no). After five hours of nonsense, I walked literally next door to Big W and grabbed the game off the shelf for even cheaper. Of course. Then the important bit: Pokopia absolutely did what I needed it to do. I sat down cranky as hell and it basically dissolved the bad-day rage within minutes, then swallowed five and a half hours of my life before hunger finally broke the spell. The vibe is Animal Crossing meets Dragon Quest Builders, and you can feel the Omega Force influence all through it—charming, cozy, and carefully paced so there’s always some new little thing to fiddle with: town stuff, habitats, exploring, “puzzles,” meeting Pokémon, the whole zen loop. It’s probably priced higher than it should be (cozy games should be cheaper), but as a reset button for life stress? Yeah… it’s frighteningly effective.
