I run through side-by-side comparisons of launch vs patch and DLSS on vs off, plus a look at how 30/40/60 FPS modes stack up now. A couple of key takeaways: the 30 FPS mode is basically unchanged visually because it’s still native rendering, so if you’re living there, nothing exciting happened. The 40 FPS mode gets a very noticeable clarity bump, and the 60 FPS mode goes from “soft” (read: blurry) to genuinely usable—night and day. Switch 2’s “DLSS light” also smartly disengages on UI-heavy screens like the Pip-Boy and terminals to keep text sharp. My personal pick still lands on 40 FPS for the best balance of clarity and feel, though I’d be more tempted by 60 if we ever get Joy-Con mouse mode… which, annoyingly, still isn’t here.
