This video was supposed to be my birthday nails vlog… and then my nails started popping off like crazy. I put my Gel-X tips on Friday night thinking I was doing my normal routine, even did a slight milky white so you wouldn’t see the harshness underneath, and I was feeling good. Then literally right after my little fit check, one nail popped off… then another… and by the time I got to my hair appointment, I basically had no nails left. When I got back in the studio, I thought my prep was the issue—until I realized I accidentally used a builder gel instead of nail glue. So my Gel-X tips were basically acting like dual forms, which is why they wouldn’t stay on. While I was troubleshooting, I also checked the “debonder” I’d been using with my peel base and realized it contained HEMA and other acrylates, so I tossed it and went down a whole peel-base rabbit hole. To save the day, I redid my nails and went with cute pastel Easter egg nails using Madam Glam’s I Am Confident collection (plus Birthday Cake, Bunny Freckles, and a speckle moment with Dalmatian). Pastels can be tricky, but these were a solid two-coat coverage—just keep it thin so you don’t bulk up the nail and you get a proper cure. Chaotic start, but we take the win because the hair and nails still turned out cute.
