Bridgestone flew me out to Steamboat Springs, Colorado to hit the Bridgestone Winter Driving School, and we got to do the kind of winter tire testing that actually matters—back-to-back on a real ice track. We ran Toyota 4Runners on Blizzak DM‑V2s and then jumped into AWD Camrys on the brand-new Blizzak IcePeak, doing braking, cornering grip, and acceleration/traction work with pro instructors calling out weight transfer, understeer, and how to unwind the wheel so you can actually get back to power. This was also my first time on a proper winter tire, and it straight up surprised me how much control you can have on polished ice when the tire is doing its job. The DM‑V2s were super fun (even in 2WD 4Runner mode), but the IcePeak’s lateral grip and braking feel on the icy zones really stood out—yeah, I still hit ABS in spots because the track was slick, but the tire stayed predictable. My big takeaway: winter driving is all about managing inputs—brake earlier, be intentional with steering, and use weight transfer to your advantage—because the tire can only work with what you give it.
