It’s finally time to lift my 3rd gen 4Runner (Xena the Pavement Princess) the right way, starting with the front end. Up to this point I’ve already stacked a bunch of weight on this thing—Coastal Off-Road bumper, Open Road 12K winch, fully welded sliders, RCI skids, plus 1552 wheels and 265/75R18 Firestone Destinations—so on stock suspension it was sitting low and I was bottoming out way too often. In this episode I swap in Locked Offroad front coilovers and I measure the before/after so we can see real lift numbers once it settles. But the big “do it right” part is the Eimkeith strut tower reinforcement plates. I’m not just bolting coilovers in and calling it a day—I line the plates up with the hardware, prep the metal, lay a few beads, and hit it with paint for rust prevention. While I’m in there I also install SPC upper control arms, set them up for more caster (I went +3 because I want it to track straighter and return to center better), and I torque-stripe everything so I can visually confirm nothing’s moved. I also shout out the Perry Suspension Parts 3D-printed bump stops because they’re designed to take the harsh “brick wall” hit out of the factory stops.
