About This Video

In this video I sat right in front of the window for that good natural lighting (even though my sunblock was giving Casper, okay?) and did a super quick, chaotic-but-cute trim on my hair. I honestly don’t remember the last time I trimmed because moving at the end of last year was a blur, but my ends were feeling… interesting. After my henna, my hair looked great at first, then a few days later it felt bone dry—so I sealed with hair grease/pomade on my last wash day and it brought my shine and softness back. Still, when I got to my ends, I could feel exactly what needed to go. I always trim in twists because it keeps everything simple and organized (I had about seven twists). I use my Curl Mix shears and cut at the bend of the curl, usually at a slight angle so everything blends more naturally—this is not the method for perfectly even lines, and I’m totally fine with that. My last several inches are still damaged, so I’m okay being a little overzealous and cutting where I feel roughness, thinning, fraying, and single strand knots. I ended up taking off around an inch and a half to two inches depending on the section (some spots more), and it turned out surprisingly good—more movement, more definition, and way less of those straggly ends dragging everything down. Not even, but definitely cuter.
