I usually wear my twists straight down, but I wanted to challenge myself and find low-maintenance options that keep the hair out of my face without stressing my scalp. I walk through low tension ponytails (scrunchie vs. traditional holder), a comfy low tension bun that ended up being one of my accidental favorites, and a few half-up, half-down variations that are cute but still simple. I also show how I re-moisturize my twists in between wash days, because the longer I wear them (I usually go about 3 weeks), the more frizz and dryness creep in — plus buildup happens. I use Uncle Funky’s Daughter Midnight Train and Curly Magic to refresh without over-saturating, and I only do it when my twists are starting to feel dry and look frizzy (about every 3–4 days depending on how they feel). Biggest takeaway: comfort wins for me. Soft scrunchies help me avoid dents and tension, and switching up styles is an easy way to “hide” frizz and keep tiny twists looking fresh longer.
