If your mind feels busy today, this is your invitation to slow down. Make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, pick up your knitting or crochet, and spend a quiet morning making alongside me. In this knit with me video, I’m working on two big projects that are teaching me patience and presence - a knitted dress that has been on my needles since September 2024, and a crochet blanket made from yarn I spun during the holiday season. The dress is a deeply personal make. I’m heavily modifying a vintage 1970s pattern and shaping it as I go, inspired by one of my favorite store-bought dresses that I hope to replace with a natural fiber version. I’m holding Nutiden (an unspun yarn that asks for mindfulness with every stitch) together with a strand of silk mohair, creating a fabric that feels both delicate and enduring. Alongside it, I’m slowly crocheting a hexagon blanket from handspun yarn. I’m still a beginner when it comes to crochet, and I don’t yet know exactly how all the pieces will come together. But this project is reminding me that we don’t have to know every step before we begin. This video isn’t about productivity or perfection. It’s about taking time, working with our hands, and allowing creativity to unfold at its own pace. Knit along, crochet along, or simply enjoy the quiet company. I hope you enjoy!
