In this video I’m sharing the first USCBB (U.S. captive bred) Chinese water dragons to hatch in 2025 from one of my breeding groups. I go over what I’m seeing in these fresh hatchlings, why getting solid captive-bred animals on the ground matters, and what I’m aiming for each season when I’m pairing adults and setting up eggs. This is the part of the year I look forward to most—actually seeing the results of months of conditioning, laying, and incubation. I also break down where my incubation didn’t go the way I wanted. I talk through the specific “failure points” that showed up for me this round and how I’d adjust to avoid those issues next time. The big takeaway is that incubation is never just “set it and forget it”—you have to pay attention, learn from what the eggs are telling you, and tighten up your process so the next clutch does better.
