On April 17, 2026, the Government Law Center at Albany Law School and New York State Education Department Office of General Counsel presented a continuing legal education program titled, “The Student Discipline Revolution.” Presenters Daniel Morton-Bentley and Erika Fukes ’22 examined the historical evolution of attitudes toward student suspensions and how those views have changed over time in New York State. The presentation concluded with an in-depth discussion of a revolutionary shift in approach in 2020 that redefined modern school discipline policy.
