I prepared for a downpour. I packed for slick limestone and mud. But the biggest threat on the Miller Springs Loop wasn't the weather—it was the fence line. We targeted the bluff lines to verify cave locations and scout the waterfall, but the dense brush and hidden wire made the "easy" sections the most dangerous. The Location: Miller Springs Nature Center Located between the Leon River and the bluffs of Lake Belton, Miller Springs offers 260 acres of rugged Texas terrain. It is a unique mix of wetlands, high bluffs, and prairie. It is often overlooked, but as this hike proves, it demands respect.
